Mrs. Joan Mishoe Evans, 90, of Lake City, wife of the late Freddie L. Evans, passed away Thursday, April 27, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Evans was born on December 18, 1932, in Florence County, daughter of the late William Mayberry Mishoe and Emma Kathleen Kirby Mishoe. She retired at the age of 88 with 48 years of service as a Staff Nurse in the hospital and worked over 20 years as a school nurse for Florence School District 2. She was known as a strong woman, in faith and life, with an abundance of energy and a servant’s heart. Mrs. Evans loved the Lord, her family and nursing. She was a member of Lake City First Baptist Church, The Friendship Sunday School Class, DMA, WMU and Meals on Wheels. She was an anchor to her family and a devoted mother to her three children, seven grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. Mrs. Evans enjoyed working in her yards, baking cakes and going to the beach with her sisters-in-law.
Surviving are her sons, Freddie Glenn (Nancy) Evans of Hartsville and Ricky A. (Melinda) Evans of Coward; daughter, Robin E. (Frankie) Rivers of Florence; grandchildren, Lane Evans (Rob) Buete of South Lake, TX, Amy Evans (Brandon) Koonsman of South Lake, TX, Laurie Evans (Paul) Taylor of Lexington, Melissa Nicole Evans (Ryan) Howard of Landrum, Andrew “Drew” Mishoe (Elizabeth) Evans of Marshville, NC, Franklin Evans Rivers of Charleston and Mary Allyson Rivers (Aaron) Gamble of Florence; 19 great-grandchildren; sisters, Kathryn M. Kyzer of Lexington and Barbara M. (William) Wall of Scranton; sisters-in-law, Doris Mishoe and Shelby Mishoe; number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Evans was preceded in death by her siblings, Sarah Porter, William M. Mishoe, Sam B. Mishoe, Jerry M. Mishoe and Harry Mishoe; special friend, Retha Kemp.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Sunday, April 30, 2023, at Lake City First Baptist Church, with burial to follow at Lake City Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and at other times, at the home of Mrs. Evans, 207 Martha Law Drive, Lake City.
