Joe Forreston Frye, Jr., 76, husband of Nell McKenzie Frye, died Tuesday, July 7, 2020, at his residence, after an extended illness.
Mr. Frye was born on February 5, 1944, in Williamsburg County, son of the late Joe Forreston Frye, Sr. and Hazel Inez Jordan Frye. He was President of Lake City Electric Motor Repair, Inc. which he opened in 1979. He was a member of Floyd Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church for 35 years where he worked many jobs including serving as deacon. Mr. Frye loved his church and his church family. He was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. Mr. Frye enjoyed bass fishing, his family and serving the Lord. He was a member of Lynches River Bass Club for many years. Mr. Frye will be missed dearly by his family.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Nell McKenzie Frye of Lake City; children, Michelle Singletary, Tammy (David) Cook and Trenton Frye, all of Lake City; grandchildren, Lindsey (John) Gathings, Rachel (Ryan) Elvis, Olivia Singletary, Laura Kelly Cook, Andrew, Loni, Jax, Cami and Piper Frye; four sisters, JaNell (Bruce) Shimwell of Holden Beach, NC, Joyce Floyd of New Zion, Judy (Roddy) Poston of Summerton and Joetta Dearwent of Jacksonville, FL.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the following caregivers: Jason, Stuart, Teressa, Rhonda, Joann, Chelsey and Morgan, all of Kindred at Home, and Ronnie, Heather, Barry and Leah, all of McLeod Hospice.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Friday, July 10, 2020, at Floyd Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church, with private burial to follow in the church cemetery.
