Mr. John “Jack” F. Peterson, Jr, 86, died Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Magnolias of Eutawville.
Mr. Peterson was born on September 3, 1939, in Brooklyn, New York, son of the late John Peterson, Sr. and Edith Hulse Studley. Mr. Peterson was a proud veteran of the United States Army, where he served his country with honor and dedication. He was a member of Seneca Baptist Church in Elliston, Virginia, where his strong faith and commitment to his church family were evident throughout his life.
Mr. Peterson was well known in the community as the owner and operator of Jack’s Garage in Christiansburg, Virginia, where he worked for many years before his retirement. His skills as a mechanic and his willingness to help others earned him the respect and gratitude of many friends and neighbors. He found joy and fulfillment in tending the land and especially loved working with cattle.
Surviving are his son, Glen Peterson of Raleigh, NC; daughter, Nancy Peterson (Tobby) Kennedy of Summerton; grandchildren, Hannah Kennedy (Jacob) Richardson, Justin DeWayne (Rebekah) Stover, and Bradley "Kyle" Turpin; six (6) great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his grandson, Travis John Kennedy.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Sunday, October 5, 2025, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel, Scranton, SC, with burial to follow at Matthews Cemetery, Coward, SC.
The family will have visitation from 2:00 – 3:00 PM, Sunday, October 5, 2025, at Carolina Funeral Home.
