Mr. John Rush “Rusty” Floyd, Jr., 54, of Coward, husband of Eileen Carter Floyd, passed away Sunday, November 24, 2024, at MUSC Health Florence Medical Center.
Mr. Floyd was born on November 26, 1969, in Jacksonville, Florida, son of Clara Audrey Bowers Floyd and the late John Rush Floyd, Sr. He graduated from Lake City High School and later pursued a career in auto body repair. Mr. Floyd was a cherished family man, a loving father and grandfather, affectionately known as “Papa Rusty.” He found great joy in cheering on his beloved Gamecocks and Atlanta Braves, often sharing these moments with his dear friend Jerry Welch and his adopted son, Davey Fulghum, while relaxing on the back porch.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Eileen Carter Floyd of Coward; their children, Ashton (Heather) Floyd, Olivia (Alex) Richburg, Dixie McDonald, Savannah (Michael) Flowers and Michael Gabriel Floyd; their grandchildren, Joanna Richburg, Liam Richburg, Emmie Flowers, Callie Flowers, Kenna Miles, Bentley McKenzie and Mason Floyd; and his siblings, Randy (Sandy) Moody, Joyce (Mike) Welch, Janice (Bruce) Pech, Sherry (Trader) Lee and Sharon Floyd.
Mr. Floyd was preceded in death by his brothers Kenneth Moody and Terry Floyd, as well as his brother-in-law, John W. “Squrl” Floyd.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at Carolina Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow at Camp Branch Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery.
