Mr. Joseph “JoJo” Powell, 68, husband of Pamela Stanton Powell, passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at his home in Cades.
Mr. Powell was born on October 9, 1956, in Williamsburg County, son of the late Joseph Powell and Evelyn Dukes Powell. At a very early age he began building and moving houses with his father, who instilled in him the value of a hard day’s work. JoJo graduated from Kingstree High School and attended Williamsburg Technical College where he studied Architecture and Drafting. He and his father later started their own company, Joe Powell & Sons House Moving, where he worked side by side with his sons. He was a member of Terrell’s Church of God of Prophecy. He was a loving Husband, Daddy and PaPa and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Pamela Stanton Powell of Cades; sons, Christopher Powell of Cades, Joey (Becky) Powell of Timmonsville and Corey Powell of Cades; sister, Bridgette Powell Coker of Myrtle Beach; grandchildren, Tray Dennis of Cades, Rees Powell & Kierston Powell both of Timmonsville, Austin Powell & Andrew Powell both of Cades.
Mr. Powell was preceded in death by his sister, Fran Skvanek.
The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice staff and nurses, Melissa Hucks and Tabitha Powell for their care during this time.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Terrell’s Church of God of Prophecy, with burial to follow at Sandy Bay Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
