Mr. Joseph “Joe” Mathis, 65, of Goose Creek, husband of Robyn Lynn Johnson Mathis, passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at his home.
Mr. Mathis was born on March 22, 1960, in Manning, SC, son of the late Thomas “Boot” Mathis and Dorothy Hickman Mathis. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Navy and Naval Reserve. He attended First Pentecostal Holiness Church of Goose Creek and worked as an electrician with Santee Cooper, where he retired after 28 years of service. He loved his work, enjoyed fishing, and took great pride in being his own auto mechanic, often spending his spare time working on his truck.
Surviving are his wife, Robyn J. Mathis of Goose Creek; sons, Joseph Michael (Courtney) Mathis of Maryland and Bryan (Christina) Dykes of Hanahan, SC; daughters, Angela (Robert) Snyder of Summerton, SC and Amanda (Joel) Hefner of Goose Creek, SC; grandchildren, Blake Mathis, Liam Mathis, Jace Mathis, Tristan McFadden, Elizabeth Abernathy, Rosemary Hefner, Quinn Hefner, Makenna Hefner, JT Hefner, Jacob Dykes, Parker Dykes and Hailey Dykes; sisters, Debbie (Charles) Filyaw and Sandy (Scott) McElveen; brother, Jerome (Candace) Mathis; along with nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM until 4:00 PM, Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Cornerstone Ministries, with funeral services to follow at 4:00 PM in the church sanctuary. Private burial will follow in the church cemetery.
