Judy (Baxley) Braxton

Mrs. Judy Baxley Braxton, 78, widow of Barney Lee Braxton, passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at McLeod Regional Medical Center of the Pee Dee.

After 60 years of marriage, 6 months & 6 days apart, they are now together, heart to heart.

Mrs. Braxton was born on February 16, 1945, in Florence County, daughter of the late Mitchell Baxley and Margaret Stone Baxley. She was formerly employed with Talon and Wal-Mart.

Surviving are her children, Michael (Linda) Braxton of Scranton, James Braxton of Coward and Renee (Marion) Courtney of Evergreen; 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Braxton was preceded in death by her siblings, Clarence Baxley, Mitchell “Bubba” Baxley, James “Sonny” Baxley, Odell Baxley, Betsy Fields, Lucille Sims, Emma Kennedy and Lizzie Evans.

The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to Fresenius Dialysis Center, Pamplico Hwy, Florence and to Dr. Maqsood for their loving care and concern for our family during this time.

Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Friday, August 11, 2023, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow at Lake City Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 9:00 PM, Thursday, August 10, 2023, at Carolina Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter, Renee Courtney, 4322 Armfield Road, Effingham, SC 29541.
