Mrs. Judy Matthews Ward, 79, of Lake City, wife of the late Hilliard Jack Ward, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2025, at her residence.
Mrs. Ward was born on September 27, 1945, in Florence County, daughter of the late Robert James Matthews and Lindy Cook Matthews. Mrs. Ward was a devoted charter member of Faith Holiness Church, where she faithfully served as the church organist for many years. In addition, she was a licensed real estate agent with Matthews Real Estate, known for her professionalism and integrity. Beyond her career and church service, Mrs. Ward was a compassionate and selfless caregiver, always putting the needs of her family and others first and offering unwavering support and love throughout the years.
Surviving are her sons, Jackie Kim Ward and Chris “Curley” (Sherri) Ward, both of Lake City; daughter, Teresa W. (Robert) Romanelli of Myrtle Beach; grandchildren, Matt (Crystal) Dix of Conway, Ashley Dix of Myrtle Beach, Carmen Ward (Judson) Coker and Dr. Ryder (Dr. Angel) Ward, both of Lake City; great grandchildren, Charlee Dix, Myles Dix, Tate Coker, Asher Dix and Tyson Coker; siblings, Patsy M. (Jimmy) Wiggins of Greensboro, NC, Peggy M. (Charles) Collins of Florence and Rev. Bob (Melsa) Matthews of Ladson.
Mrs. Ward was preceded in death by a great grandchild, Bowen Jackson Dix.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Carolina Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Lake City Memorial Park.
