Miss Kara Alyssa Barefoot, 28, of Lake City, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at her home.
Kara was born on January 21, 1998, in Florence, daughter of Shawn Curtis Barefoot and Karen Blaton Barefoot. Kara was a proud 2016 graduate of Johnsonville High School. Above all, Kara’s greatest joy in life was her children and her family. She loved them fiercely and selflessly, always putting their needs before her own. Kara was a strong and compassionate woman whose life was a reflection of love, dedication, and resilience. She fought a courageous and valiant battle against HNSCC cancer, facing each day with strength and grace.
Surviving in addition to her parents are her children, Katheryn Barefoot and Paisley Phillips; sister, Amara Barefoot; significant other, Nick Phillips; aunts, Nadine (Wayne) Wilkes, Loraine Wise (Lanny Ard) and Brandy Barefoot; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
Miss Barefoot was preceded in death by a grandmother, Dorothy Barefoot.
