Karen Altman Altman, 63, wife of Lawrence Altman, died Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence.
Karen was born on September 16, 1957 in Hemingway, daughter of Johnnie Ruth Tyler Altman and the late Bobby Eugene Altman, Sr. She was a graduate of Johnsonville High School, Florence-Darlington Technical College and Coker College. Karen was the branch manager of Santee Electric Co-Op of Hemingway, where she was employed for 43 years and was a member of W.I.R.E. She was a member of Christian Life Ministries, where she served as treasurer of the Women's Ministries. Karen enjoyed eating out, she loved going to the Shady Rest and Longhorn Steak House and going to ballgames, especially to see her grandchildren play.
Surviving are her husband of 39 years, Lawrence Altman of Johnsonville; children, Olin (Brandy) Altman and Lauren Altman (Ashtin Elvis) Thaxton, both of Johnsonville; mother, Johnnie Ruth Tyler Altman of Johnsonville; sister, Teresa Altman of Johnsonville; brother, Bob (Lisa) Altman of Lake City; grandchildren, Alex (Molly) Coker of Hemingway, Logan (Altman Brewer) Cribb, Chloe Cribb, Sullivan "Sulley" Altman, Lucas Thaxton and Sawyer Elvis, all of Johnsonville; great grandchildren, Kylee Coker and Katie Coker; nieces and nephews, Jennifer (Chris) Lyerly, Hannah Graham, Spencer Graham, Nicholas Lyerly, Ben Lyerly, Madison (John) Isgett, Jordan Lyerly, Travis (Jesse) Carter and Carmen (Justin) Coker.
Karen was preceded in death by her father, Bobby Eugene Altman, Sr., and her father-in-law & mother-in-law, OB and JoAnn Altman.
Funeral services will be 4:00 PM, Friday, July 30, 2021, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Family Life Center, 11904 Pleasant Hill Drive, Hemingway, SC 29554 with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Thursday, July 29, 2021, at Carolina Funeral Home, 215 East Highway 378 Bypass, Scranton, SC 29591.
