Karen M. Powell

Mrs. Karen M. Powell, 66, wife of Gerald Powell, passed away Sunday, January 19, 2025, at McLeod Regional Medical Center of The Pee Dee.

Mrs. Powell was born on May 14, 1958, in Clarendon County, daughter of the late Robin Mouzon and Agnes Osborne Mouzon.  She held a Master’s Degree in Grief Counseling and was a retired school teacher with East Clarendon School District, where she taught Middle School and Special Education.  Mrs. Powell was a founding member of Marantha Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, Missions Coordinator and was a member of the Women’s Ministry.

Surviving are her daughters, Amanda (Glen) Morris of Turbeville and Kristen  (Shawn Gilroy) of Sumter; son, Chance Powell of Turbeville; grandchildren, Chandler Morris, Cody Morris, Adalynn Powell, Connor Morris, Kayden Feagin, Kinlee Feagin, Kara Jane Feagin, Mary Gilroy, William Gilroy and Benton Powell; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Mrs. Powell was preceded in death by brothers, Marion Mouzon and Robin Mouzon, Jr.

The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Friday, January 24, 2025, at Carolina Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Marantha Pentecostal Holiness Church, with burial to follow in church cemetery.
