Kevin Lyn "Skwerl" Gowdy, 53, husband of Sharon Gowdy, died Monday, April 19, 2021, from injuries sustained in an accident.
Skwerl was born on September 14, 1967 in Williamsburg County, son of Sybil Smith Gowdy and the late John Earl Gowdy, Sr. He was a 1985 graduate of Salem High School and a 1988 graduate of Williamsburg Technical College. Skwerl was a member of Maranatha Pentecostal Holiness Church and the owner of Long Branch Farms in Cades. He was the President of Southeastern Bluegrass Association of SC SEBGA, a member of The Home Branch Band and an avid Bee Keeper.
Surviving are his wife, Sharon Feagin Gowdy; son, Ben Gowdy; his mother, Sybil Smith Gowdy; father-in-law, Starling (Julia) Feagin; nephews, Jonathan Gowdy, Chase Feagin, Kayden Feagin and Chris Owens; nieces, Laura Gowdy Hysong, Kinlee Feagin and Kara Jane Feagin; great nephews, Tyler Gowdy and Dylan Hysong; and great niece, Maddie Berkenstock.
Skwerl was preceded in death by his brother, John Earl Gowdy, Jr. and mother-in-law, Janet Feagin.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Friday, April 23, 2021, at Maranatha Pentecostal Holiness Church in Turbeville. Burial, directed by Carolina Funeral Home, will follow at Hebron United Methodist Church Cemetery, Cades.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 PM, Friday, April 23, 2021, at Maranatha Pentecostal Holiness Church, Turbeville and other times at the home of his father-in-law, Starling Feagin, 4420 St. James Road, Lake City, SC 29560.
