Landa Elizabeth (Poston) Wise

Mrs. Landa Elizabeth Poston Wise, 80, of Pamplico, wife of the late Willie Burns Wise, passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at The Florence Presbyterian Community after a long illness.

Mrs. Wise was born on May 7, 1944, in Hyman, SC, daughter of the late William Hoyt “Slick” Poston and Fleedy McCutheon Poston. Landa was a 1962 graduate of Hannah High School. She worked for many years in the insurance industry and especially enjoyed working with farmers and crop insurance. After retirement, she later returned to school and graduated with a Doctorate from Cathedral Bible College in Myrtle Beach, with an emphasis on Christian Counseling.

Surviving are her daughter, Amy (Mark) Creel of Lexington; sons, Gary (Robin) Wise of Lake City and Lonnie (Hillary) Wise of Parker, CO; grandchildren, Amber (James) Bernard of Charlotte, NC, Emily (Andrew) Habash of Lexington, KY, Taylor Wise of Arlington, VA, Julian Wise and Emerson Wise, both of Parker, CO; great grandchildren, Magnolia Habash of Lexington, KY, Jimmy Bernard and Annabelle Bernard, both of Charlotte, NC; sister, Janice P. (James) Woodberry of Lake City; along with many special cousins, nieces and nephews. Family and genealogy were very important to Landa.

She was preceded in death by her brother, William Hoyt Poston, Jr. and sister, Miriam P. McKnight.

A heartfelt “Thanks” is extended to the Florence Presbyterian Community Memory Care Unit for their love, compassion and care shown to her during her residency there. Also, a heartfelt “Thanks” to our family and friends for the love and support shown to us throughout mama’s illness and our loss.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Carolina Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be 3:00 PM, Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow at St. John Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery, Pamplico. Services will be live streamed and can be viewed from Carolina Funeral Home website.
