Mrs. Laura Kennedy Sabo Stone, 97, passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at Heritage Home of Florence.
Mrs. Stone was born on September 17, 1926, in Johnsonville, daughter of the late Robert B. Kennedy and Corine Stone Kennedy. She was a member of Hickory Hill Free Will Baptist Church. Mrs. Stone was formerly employed as a certified welder at the Charleston Naval Yard, Prosser’s Restaurant and Wentworth Manufacturing.
Surviving are her children, Michael L. (Lenora) Sabo, Linda S. (Jimmy) Boyington, Joseph Robert (Kathy) Sabo, and Darlene S. (Jamie) Poston; grandchildren, Laurie Ann (Steve) Nettles, John W. (Laura) Boyington, Ryan L. (Joanne) Sabo, Melanie S. (Chris) Kirby, Dana Sabo, James “Jody” (Amanda) Poston, Lindsey P. Scott, Hilary Mitchell, Brittany (Jay) Gibson and Charles O. “Neil” Mitchell; 14 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; sister, Lorraine (Lanney) McHargue; brother-in-law, Bobby (Mary Lou) Sabo; son-in-law, Charles “Chuck” Mitchell; sisters-in-law, Myrtle K. Jefferson and Carol W. Kennedy.
Mrs. Stone was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph “Joe” Sabo; second husband, Charles L. Stone; daughter, Donna Sabo Mitchell; brothers, Jack Kennedy, Jimmy Kennedy, Dorran Kennedy, J.C. Kennedy, Paul Kennedy and Charles Kennedy; sisters, Dorothy Coward, Hirfa Walker and Vivian Hanna.
The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to Dr. Albert Mims, Heritage Home of Florence, April Andrews, Amedysis Hospice, Brooke Creel and Adaire Calcutt for all their love and care for our family during this time.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Sunday, July 7, 2024, at Carolina Funeral Home and other times at the home of Jamie & Darlene Poston, 832 Woods Road, Pamplico, SC 29583. Please use front door, due to construction.
Funeral services will be 5:00 PM, Sunday, July 7, 2024, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel, Scranton, with burial to follow at Union Baptist Church, Pamplico.
