Lewis Maxwell Powell

Lewis Maxwell Powell, 81, husband of Rosa Nell Hill Powell, died Tuesday, March 16, 2021, at McLeod Hospice House, Florence.

Mr. Powell was born on June 26, 1939 in Florence County, son of the late Carl Eugene Powell and Viola Thompson Powell. He served in the United States Navy for 8 years and later retired from Laz-boy and farming. Mr. Powell enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, woodworking and spending time with his family and friends.

Surviving are his wife, Rosa Nell Hill Powell of Coward, daughter, Rosa Marie Powell (Ricky) Tisdale of Kingstree, Debra Powell (Michael) Cook of Tallahassee, FL and Linda Mae Powell of Coward; sons, Louis Mark Powell of Lake City and Dan Allen (Holly) Powell of Scranton; grandchildren, Emily, Kimberly, Jessica, Kirstin, Christopher, Levi, Kayla, Mary Catherine, Charles, Bryce and John; great grandchildren, Paigelynn Grace, Brody, Isabella, John, Spencer and Madina; sister, Annie Lou Powell Jones; his fur babies, Buffy and Mutt.

Mr. Powell was preceded in death by his siblings, Corine Cain, Eugene Powell, J. C. Powell, Addie Hinson and Benjamin Powell   

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Monday, March 22, 2021, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel. Burial with Military Honors will be 1:00 PM, Monday, at Florence National Cemetery.  

The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 AM, Monday, March 22, 2021, at Carolina Funeral Home, Scranton.

COVID-19, the family requests for everyone to wear a mask and please maintain the 6 foot social distancing. The family also requests everyone to please refrain from hand shaking and hugging one another.
