In the early morning hours of Saturday, June 29, 2024, Mrs. Libby M. Cooke, 90 of West Columbia, wife of the late Kirby Cooke, opened her eyes to see the face of our Lord and Savior, Jesus.
Libby was born on December 10, 1933, in Florence County, daughter of the late Roland James Miles and Theodocia Langley Miles.
As a young woman, Libby married Willis Turner, Sr., had three children and worked in the textile industry. She was known for her hard work and dedication to her family. After the passing of her husband, she later met and married Kirby Cooke of Cooke’s Auto Parts. She then helped manage their business until his passing and her retirement in 1987. Alongside her husband, Libby was well known and very much loved in their community.
She lived a life of unconditional love and strength. Selflessly caring for others throughout her earthly journey and never second guessing her decisions to give of herself. Her family brought her the most joy, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved spending her days laughing and loving.
Throughout her long, courageous journey with Dementia, God allowed her to be home until the very end, through her precious granddaughter, Samantha. She received around the clock care, comfort and love until peacefully passing in her home. She was surrounded by love in the moments of her last breaths.
Although she will be fiercely missed, we are grateful that through our Lord, Jesus, we can see her again. To her family, she will forever be the strongest, most tenacious woman known.
We love you, grandma. Our lives will not be the same without you.
Surviving are her daughter, Bobbie Jean Warren of Winnabow, NC; grandsons, John “Mikey” Benton, Jr. of Lexington, Billy Turner and Bobby Turner, both of Eastover, Robby (Shanna) Rogers of Lugoff, David Prince of West Columbia; granddaughters, Candace Warren of Winnabow, NC, Billie Jo Street of West Terre Haute, IN, Crissy (Luke) Meetze of Swansea, Samantha Prince of West Columbia; many great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Cooke was preceded in death by her first husband, Willis Turner, Sr.; son, Willis “Billy” Turner, Jr.; daughter, Debra Prince; son-in-law, Rickey Warren; siblings, Jimmy Miles, Joyce Miles, Homer Miles and Glen Miles.
