Mrs. Lizzie Ellen “Liz” Rogers Hyman, 80, of Pamplico, wife of Tenny Tennyson “T.T.” Hyman, Jr., passed away on Friday, March 27, 2026, at her home.
Mrs. Hyman was born on July 27, 1945, in Williamsburg County, daughter of James LeRoy Rogers and Birdie Lea Johnson Rogers. Mrs. Hyman was a faithful member of Pamplico Free Will Baptist Church for over 25 years before continuing her walk of faith at New Prospect Free Will Baptist Church, where she remained a devoted member for the past 15 years. Her faith was not just something she spoke about—it was something she lived out daily, always placing God first in her life.
Mrs. Hyman was a strong and determined woman who believed in running a tight ship. She was known for her hardworking nature and unwavering dedication, both at home and in her career. For over 50 years, she was a part of the family business, Hyman Specialty Company, where she took great pride in her work.
She was loving and self-sacrificing, always putting the needs of her family before her own. Whether it was caring for those she loved, tending to her home, or making sure everything was just right, she gave her all in everything she did. She even enjoyed taking care of her yard, often cutting her own grass, and looked forward to spending time camping during the summer.
Mrs. Hyman also had a well-known reputation for selling crickets, a small but memorable detail that many will fondly remember about her.
Above all, she will be remembered as a woman of strength, faith, and deep love—a steady presence who devoted her life to her family, her work, and her Lord.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to her special caregivers, Deloris, Angela, Sallie, and Bobbie, for the selfless love and compassionate care they provided to Liz during her final days.
Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Tenny “T.T.” Hyman; daughter, Shyra H. (Paul) Towery; grandchildren, Dustin W. (Ashton) Renfroe and Nicholas A. (Tiffany) Renfroe; great grandchildren, Kolton, Easton, Anniston, Hannah, Brooks, and Grey; several nieces and nephews, Deborah E. R. (Marty) Huggins, Pamela J.R. (Wayne) Pope, Michael D. (Sandra) Rogers and Melinda Reynolds (Rich) Young, as well as many nieces and nephews on the Hyman side.
Mrs. Hyman was preceded in death by a brother, Leonard C. “L.C” Rogers, Sr.; sister, Roye Jean Rogers; and nephews, Leonard C. “Len” Rogers, Jr. and Chase Young.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 PM, Monday, March 30, 2026, at New Prospect FWB Church with funeral services to follow at 2:00 PM in church sanctuary.
Burial will follow at Woodside Cemetery, Pamplico.
