Loretta Lynch Miles, 80, wife of Carrol L Miles, died early Wednesday morning, Feb. 28th, at her home in Scranton after an illness.
Loretta was born August 28, 1937 in Florence County, a daughter of the late Charlie Keith Lynch and Nellie Yarborough Lynch. She retired after 20+ years of service with Wentworth Manufacturing Company, rising from seamstress to supervisor. Recently she enjoyed serving at the Salem election precinct. Loretta was a faithful member of Lee’s Tabernacle Church for over 50 years and served on the Ladies’ Ministry Board and co –chaired the Benevolent Committee for many years. She was well known for her lovely flower gardens and enjoyed working in them as long as her health permitted. Loretta’s kind and committed actions confirmed her deep love for her family. She was an elegant southern lady and friend to all who knew her.
Loretta is survived by the love of her life, her husband of 64 years, Carrol L Miles; her son, Rick C. Miles and his wife, Beth Parrott Miles; granddaughter Candice M. Allison and her husband, Chase, and great grandson, Tanner Hedgepeth. She is also survived by a sister, Josephine L. Rogers; sister-in-law, Louise Bingham; a number of nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Charlene Miles; great grandson, Connor Miles Allison; brothers, Lenthus Lynch and Don “Buddy” Lynch.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Friday, March 2nd, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel, Scranton, SC with burial to follow at the Yarborough Cemetery.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.
