Lydia Mims Floyd Knight

Mrs. Lydia Mims Floyd Knight, 81, passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at her home in Scranton, surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Knight was born on January 7, 1943 in Sumter, daughter of the late Thomas Roy Mims, Sr. and Elizabeth Norris Mims Green. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.  Mrs. Knight, attended Lander College, where she received an Associates of Arts in Nursing in 1964.  She worked as a Registered Nurse for Lake City Medical Center for many years. She was Director of Nursing for Lake City Scranton Convalescent Center, and was Administrator of Windsor Manor in Summerton, SC.

Surviving are her children, Amy Floyd (Jim) Hooten of Columbia, Clell B. (Stacy) Floyd, Jr. of Scranton and Kim Floyd (Mike) Blakeley of Olanta; sister, Ann Mims (Charles) Wilkins of Flat Rock, NC; brother, Herbert E. (Linda) Mims of Turbeville; grandchildren, Graceyn (Patrick) Matthews of Scranton, Andrew (Morgan) Wright of Charleston; Marleigh (Justin) Owens, Emily Beth (Austin) Gladden both of Lake City, Carter Floyd of Scranton and Landon Blakeley of Olanta; great grandchild, Ellie B. Gladden of Lake City; stepchildren, Renee Knight (Dennis) McKenna, Kenneth Knight and Mark Knight.

Mrs. Knight was preceded in death by her first husband, Clell B. Floyd, Sr.; second husband, Ronald Knight; brothers, Thomas Roy Mims, Jr. and William “Billy” Ellie Mims.

The family would like to extend “Special Thanks” to the wonderful caretakers, Lynn, Sallie, Barbara and Delores for the loving care they showed to our mother.  We would also like to thank Gentiva Hospice and Erica.

Funeral services will be at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Bethel Baptist Church. Burial to follow at Lake City Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
