Mae Dean Floyd Beard, 66, wife of Stevie “Puddin” Beard, passed away Sunday, December 28, 2025, at MUSC Black River.
Mrs. Beard was born on March 2, 1959, in Florence County, daughter of the late David Ezelle Floyd and Mary Welch Floyd. She was a member of Great Commission Ministries and a retired beautician. Mae Dean loved God and people, and she knew how to enjoy life’s simple joys—especially sitting on the porch with a cup of coffee. Family was her world and she especially loved being “GiGi”. She was a woman of wisdom and integrity, always ready to listen, a problem solver, and someone others could depend on. Mae Dean was a simple woman, who was straight forward, selfless, a care giver, free spirit and always loved to make people laugh. She enjoyed watching Fox News and was a huge Donald Trump supporter.
Surviving are her husband, Stevie “Puddin” Beard of Lake City; son, Dion (Leigh Ann) Beard of Olanta; daughter, Lindsey (Bryan) Knight of Lake City; grandchildren, Kaydin Knight, Kenleigh Knight, Kingsley Knight, Finley Beard, Abbie Turner, and Kate Turner; siblings, M.D. (Willa) Floyd, Dessie Floyd McKenzie, Larry (Helen) Floyd, and Thurmond (Sandra) Floyd; brothers-in-law, Al Newton and Spencer Beard; sisters-in-law, Babbie Hardy and Clara Beard; special friend, Sharon Driggers.
Mrs. Beard was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Floyd Newton; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Donald and Amelia Beard; niece, Addison McCutcheon; brother-in-law, Dean McKenzie.
