Mr. Major Lavon Baker, 89, of Lake City, husband of the late Rosa Tunstall Baker, passed away Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Carlyle Senior Care of Kingstree.
Mr. Baker was born on May 23, 1935, in Williamsburg County, son of the late James Bertie Baker and Sarah Frances Buddin Baker. Mr. Baker was a lifelong member of Hebron United Methodist Church who sang in the choir, worked for W. Lee Flowers in the warehouse as a supervisor for many years; a family man who enjoyed hunting, horses, and the outdoors. He loved to travel in his retirement years with his wife of 54 years.
Surviving are his daughter, Cindy (John) Hoffman of Surfside Beach and grandchildren, Evan Hoffman and Zac Hoffman, both of Surfside Beach.
Mr. Baker was preceded in death by brothers, Emory Baker, Rudolph Baker and William Baker; sisters, Marguerite Huggins and Mary Frances Tomlinson.

Graveside services will be 3:00 PM, Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Hebron CrossRoads Church Cemetery, Cades.
