Mrs. Martha Poston Miles Cook, 89, wife of the late Reverend Daniel Rush “D.R.” Cook, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at Bethea Baptist Health Care Center.
Mrs. Cook was born on December 5, 1935, in Scranton, SC, daughter of the late Leo J. Poston and Ozella Stone Poston. She was a member of Leo Church of God and worked as a private sitter for 30 years. Mrs. Martha was a faithful servant of the Lord who stood strong in her faith in Christ. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a devoted pastor’s wife. Mrs. Martha lived a life of unwavering love and selfless service. She cherished her family deeply and found joy in caring for others. With a compassionate heart, she dedicated herself to meeting the needs of those in the final stages of life, bringing comfort and dignity to those she served. Her kindness, faith and love will be forever remembered by all who were blessed to know her.
Surviving are her daughters, Barbara Miles Osborne of Coward and Wendy D. Cook of Lake City; 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren, 1 great-great-great grandchild; daughter-in-law, Teri Hampton; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by her first husband, Edward W. Miles; son, Mitchell Edward Miles; daughter, Sharon Elaine Miles; grandson, Justin Wayne Hicks; great granddaughter, Macie Catina Miller; siblings, Major Poston, John Poston, Paul Poston, Kathleen Hicks, Hazel Lynch, Rachel Jones, Winnie Cox, Joyce Mangum and Ila Mae Poston.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Carolina Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel. Burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery, Pamplico, SC.
