Mrs. Clara Martha Ann Miles Gause, age 88, passed away peacefully in her home in Goose Creek, SC, on the morning of June 21, 2025. Born and raised in Coward, South Carolina, Martha Ann was the beloved daughter of the late Ocie Almond “Shug” Miles and Neva Geddings Miles.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Ocie Almond Miles Jr.; her sisters, Evelyn Evans, Estelle Matthews, Gertrude Filyaw, Vivian McAllister, and Novie Jo Braveboy; her husband, Badger W. Gause; her son, David Allen Gause; her daughter, Theresa Ann Gause; her daughter-in-law, Sandra Kay Benham Gause; and grandchildren Jessie Bagwell and David Gause.
She was a longtime member of Heritage Holiness Church in Ladson. Beyond her devotion to her family, Martha Ann had many interests and was one of the most generous people you could ever meet. She loved flowers and working in her yard—often recruiting her children to help move plants. She was an avid soap opera fan, and her door was always open to anyone who needed a place to stay.
She is survived by her children: Tommy Wayne Gause, Robert Michael Gause (Diane), and Glenn Derrick Gause.
She is also survived by her grandchildren: Wayne Gause, Kristina Stutts, Chasity Blackmon, Christopher Blackmon, Dennis Gause, Natasha DeVanno-Duska, Anna DeVanno, Amber Bartel, Jamie Feagin and Daniel Weatherford; great-grandchildren: Elizabeth Gause, Peyton Gause, Sidney Gause, Cameron Blackmon, Logan Blackmon, Shawn Bagwell, Dillon Blackwell, Anthony, Gianna, and Lucas Duska, Rhyan, Brendyn and Milania DeVanno, Ariana Feagin, Bella Bartel, and Luke Bartel; and great-great-grandchildren: Julian May and Evelyn May. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A private memorial service will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, July 5, 2025, at High Hill Church Cemetery.
