Mary Alice McKenzie

Ms. Mary Alice Stewart McKenzie, 78, passed away Thursday, December 26, 2024, at MUSC Health Florence Medical Center.

Ms. McKenzie was born on December 17, 1946, in  Florence County, daughter of the late Willie Chapel Stewart and Pearl Morris Stewart. She was a seamstress for many years, enjoyed working in her yard, spending time with children and taking road trips.  Ms. McKenzie attended Matthews Tabernacle and after she moved to the nursing home, she attended church services there and she took great pleasure in playing bingo with the other residents.

Surviving are her son, Stacy Dorrell of Lake City; sisters, Doris (Billy) Gandy of Lake City and Christine (Mitchell) Delena of Texas; nieces, Melanie Floyd of Lake City and Darlene (Dean) Ishmael of Moncks Corner; special great nephew, Culley Floyd of Lake City; her extended family, Angela Truitt, Nevaeh Truitt and Tray Dean, who she loved as her grandchildren.

Ms. McKenzie was preceded in death by her son, Jeff Dorrell; sisters, Betty Jean Cooper, Willie Mae Parrott and Myrtle DuBose Rodgers; brother, Otis Stewart.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Sunday, December 29, 2024, at Carolina Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be, 2:00 PM, Sunday, December 29, 2024, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will be Private.
