Melessa Dawn Lowder Simmers, 55, wife of James Simmers, died Friday, November 6, 2020, at her residence.
Melessa was born on April 22, 1965 in Florence County, daughter of Mildred Lowder Owens and the late Dennis Lowder. She attended Grace FW Baptist Church. Melessa loved being with her grandchildren, Jasmine, Neal, Brayden, Bayleigh, Paxton, Kaelyn, Alyssa and traveling.
Surviving are her husband, James Simmers of Cross; children, Travis Powell, Stephanie Jordan, both of Florence and Brandon Powell of Lake City; mother, Mildred Owens of Cross; brothers, Dennis Lowder of Atlanta, Ga and Mitchell Lowder of Scranton; 7 grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 1:30 P.M., Monday, November 9, 2020, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel, Scranton, with burial to follow at Lake City Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Sunday, November 8, 2020 at Carolina Funeral Home.
Due to COVID-19, the family request for everyone to wear a mask and please maintain the 6 foot social distancing. The family also request everyone to please refrain from hand shaking and hugging one another.
