Nancy Gayle Strickland

Nancy Gayle Strickland, 69, wife of the late Joseph Randall Strickland, died Monday, January 23, 2023, at her home in Scranton.

Mrs. Strickland was born on May 3, 1953, in Florence County, daughter of the late Joel “Bubba” Weaver and Thelma Martin Weaver. She loved her family, her grandchildren, loved flowers especially roses and enjoyed cooking and her specialty was her fried chicken.

Surviving are her children, Robbie Matthews of Pamplico, Christy (Clay) Rogers of Barrineau, and Jackie (Matthew) Lahn of Duncan; grandchildren, Shaun Matthews and Brittany Matthews both of Effingham, Cole Matthews of Aiken, Katelyn Stewart of Turbeville, Lenzie Rogers of Barrineau, Christopher Matthews of Florence and Katie Gallerani of Barrineau; great grandchildren, Kaison Brown and Elly Brown both of Turbeville; brothers, Carroll (Renee) Weaver and James (Charlene) Weaver both of Scranton; sister, Marjorie Kirby of Coward; step-daughter, Christy Prince of Cartersville, GA; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Strickland was preceded in death by her sister, Joyce Perry; brothers, Ricky Beard and Legrand Weaver.

Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel, Scranton, with burial to follow at Hicks Hill Cemetery, Scranton.

The family will receive friends 2:00 – 3:00 PM, Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at the funeral home.
