Mrs. Odessa Ridenhour Poston Greenwood, 100, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2024, at McLeod Hospice House.
Mrs. Odessa was born on May 27, 1924, in Richmond, NC daughter of the late George Henry Ridenhour and Minnie Scarborough Ridenhour. She was a faithful lifelong member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church, for over 50 years and was a homemaker. Mrs. Odessa was best known for her 13-layer chocolate cakes and her chocolate peanut butter balls.
Surviving are her sons, Archie Poston, Phil “Pete” (Brenda) Poston and Lawayne “Bear” (Betty) Poston; 7 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 22 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Odessa was preceded in death by first husband, A. Leo Poston; second husband, Joe G. Greenwood; grandchildren, Stan Poston and Jarrett Poston; siblings, Daisy Poston, Ruby Poston and L. D. Ridenhour; daughter-in-law, Barbara Poston; and a sister-in-law, Hazel P. Ridenhour.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 8:30 PM, Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at Carolina Funeral Home, 215 East Hwy 378 Bypass, Scranton, SC 29591.
Graveside services will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at Prosser Cemetery, 3359 Big Swamp Road, Pamplico, SC 29583.
