Patricia (Webster) Godwin

Patricia Webster Godwin, age 86, wife of the late Charles E. Godwin, Sr., passed away peacefully at her home on August 28, 2022.  A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at Lake City Cemetery.  

Born in Florence County on October 19, 1935, Patricia was the daughter of the late Paul Whitehead Webster and the late Emma Worrell Webster.  She was a graduate of Lake City High School and Coker College. Patricia was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Patricia is survived by three children: Kim Godwin Phillips (Scotty) and Charles Edward “Chas” Godwin, Jr. (Lynn) of Lake City, and Tara Godwin Goodson (James) of Sumter; eight grandchildren: Thomas Phillips (Amanda) and Lauren Goodson (Matt McCracken) of Greenville, Kristin Floyd (Jason) and Mary Sibley English (Austin) of Lake City, Chase Godwin (Nicole) of Florence, and Taylor Green (Shane), Jay Goodson (Jane) and Brad Goodson of Sumter; eight great-grandchildren:  Jase, Ryan and Sarah Scott Floyd of Lake City, Vera Katherine Godwin of Florence, Gunner, Callen and Ellington Green of Sumter, and Addie Phifer Goodson of Sumter; two sisters-in-law: Linda Webster and Judy Godwin, both of Lake City and Patsy Willimon of La Grange, Georgia.

In addition to her husband and parents, Patricia is preceded in death by her sisters, Ina Jean Godwin and Mary Alice Webster; brother, Glynn Worrell Webster; parents-in-law, Samuel Louie Godwin, Sr. and Roy Lee Parnell Godwin; brothers-in-law, Samuel Louie Godwin, Jr. and Howard Finklea Godwin; and sister-in-law, Claire Godwin Hopkins.

The family would like to extend much gratitude and appreciation to Patricia’s caregivers, Gloria Brown, Veola Wilson, Linda Gayle Welch, Victoria Burgess, Linda Stone and Amedisys Hospice, for the love and excellent care they provided.
