Mrs. Peggy Matthews Wilkes, 81, of Coward, passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at The Palms of Florence.
Mrs. Wilkes was born on March 10, 1944, in Florence County, daughter of the late Lloyd Matthews and Nora Lee Matthews. Mrs. Wilkes was a devoted homemaker and of the Pentecostal faith. She loved the Lord, enjoyed attending church, and especially loved singing in the services. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who treasured her family dearly.
The family would like to thank The Palms, Pruitt Home Health, and Vonnette Evans for their love, compassion, and care shown to Mrs. Wilkes.
Surviving are her sons, Shawn Wilkes, Kevin (Jessie) Wilkes, and Jason (April) Wilkes, all of Coward; grandchildren, Chelsey, Jayden, Michael, Robert, Josh, Nora Grace and one on the way ; and special cousins, Deloris “Tooney” Miles and family.
Mrs. Wilkes was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie “Buddy” Wilkes; sons, Charles Timothy Wilkes and James Randy Wilkes.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 PM, Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Carolina Funeral Home, with funeral services to follow at 3:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be at Matthews Cemetery, Coward.
