Phillip Edward “Sonny” Broach, 72, husband of Geraldine Matthews Broach, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at MUSC Health Florence.
Mr. Broach was born on February 1, 1952, in Florence County, son of the late Rudolph Edward Broach and Vendil Idell McKnight Broach. He was a retired maintenance worker at Merita Bread and later was a self-employed HVAC technician. Sonny was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed running his beagles and catfishing. He enjoyed spending time in the mountains, but most of all he loved his family.
Surviving are his wife, Geraldine Broach of Scranton; daughters, Alexis Hutchinson and Rachel Evans, both of Florence; grandchildren, Cody & Alaina Butler and Ava & Jackson Selph; brother, Ronnie Broach; sisters, Annette Harrison, Teresa McPherson; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Mr. Broach was preceded in death by his son, Thomas R. Miller; siblings, Shirley Miller and Lynn Broach; brother-in-law, Thomas L. Miller; sister-in-law, Bonnie Munn.
The family would like to extend the deepest gratitude to MUSC Home Health nurses, Roxanne Eaddy and Shay Altman and Timmonsville Rescue Squad for their compassionate care.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Monday, September 16, 2024, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow at Hicks Cemetery, Old #4 Highway, Scranton.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM, Monday, September 16, 2024, at the funeral home and other times at the home of Phillip Broach, 1277 Hemlock Road, Scranton.
