Mrs. Rachel Melton Parker, 87, passed away on December 13, 2025, at her residence in Virginia Beach, VA.
Mrs. Parker was born on April 1, 1938, in South Carolina, daughter of Wentford Melton and Nell Gaskins Melton. She was a graduate of Johnsonville High School and then she joined the Air Force before becoming a wife and mother. Mrs. Parker was a loving mother, grandmother, wife, and friend whose life was defined by faith, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her family. She dedicated herself to raising her children with love, guidance, and encouragement, always ensuring they were cared for and supported in every stage of life.
Rachel believed deeply in the value of education, earning both a college degree and a master's degree while overcoming life's challenges with strength and determination. Her faith in God carried her through difficult times and inspired her to serve others with kindness and generosity.
In her retirement years, Rachel enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, and making treasured memories with her husband, Clyde, and her beloved grandchildren, Leah and Caroline. She found great joy in watching her family grow and in helping those in need within her community.
Surviving are her children, Robert Anthony Parker and Rebecca Anne Parker (Glen McDermott); grandchildren, Caroline and Leah; siblings, Glen Melton, Jane Melton and Richard Melton.
Mrs. Parker was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Eugene Parker; second husband, Clyde White; and sibling, Donald Melton.
The family will be holding a private service for Mrs. Parker on June 20, 2026, at Hanna Cemetery, Lake City.
