Renetta Finklea Holliday Davis, 90, of Mount Pleasant, SC, formerly of Lake City SC and Pamplico, SC passed away on January, 16, 2025.
Ms. Davis was born in Florence, SC on January 18, 1934, to the late Gary I. and Gertrude Stuckey Finklea. Renetta graduated from Winthrop College and obtained her Master of Education Degree from the University of South Carolina. She worked as a teacher for Florence County Schools. Renetta loved God, her family, and her church, Beulah Baptist. She enjoyed playing bridge and growing trees. In addition to her church, she was a member of and actively involved in Colonial Dames XVII Century where she served as President of the Dr. Thomas Finklea Chapter for many years, the Pamplico Cotillion Club, the Junior Sorosis Club of Lake City and several bridge clubs.
Surviving are her children, Dianne Whitlock (Tony) of Lake City, SC, Gwendolyn Pruett (Bill) of Columbia, SC, and James “Doc” Holliday (Amanda) of Charleston, SC; three grandchildren, Ian Whitlock (Haley) of Lake City, SC, Claire Pruett of Brooklyn, NY, and Talia Holliday of Charleston, SC; and great-granddaughter, Elodie Whitlock. She is also survived by her step children Eric Davis (Betsy) of Raleigh, NC and Diana Dunn (Red) of Jupiter Beach, FL; step grandchildren Ruby Dunn, Katy Davis (Jakob Bueche) and Walker Pruett (Jade); two step great grandchildren, Redding and Bruce; brother Robert W, (Bobby) Finklea (Jo) of Pamplico, SC, and several nieces and nephews.
Ms. Davis was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William Brownfield Davis, and brother, John G. Finklea.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at Beulah Baptist Church, Pamplico, with a reception to follow the service at the home of Dianne & Tony Whitlock.
A private interment directed by Carolina Funeral Home, will be held prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Beulah Baptist Church, 784 N Pamplico Hwy, Pamplico, SC, 29583.
