Mrs. Renetta Louise "Lou" Humphries, 73, wife of Jeffrey B. Humphries, died Friday, April 13, 2018, after an extended illness.
Mrs. Humphries was born on November 6, 1944, in Georgetown County, daughter of the late Lewis Edwin Camden and Amy Tanner Camden Powers. She was a licensed cosmetologist for 18 years prior to retiring from the City of Lake City Housing Authority after 33 years of service. Mrs. Humphries was a member of Prospect Independent Methodist Church, a member of the Ladies' Missionary Society, and a long-time member, leader and trainer for the Pee Dee Area Girl Scouts.
Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Jeffrey B. Humphries of Lake City; children, Henry (Teresa) Humphries of Lake City, Renee (Joey) Prosser of Florence, YeVonne (Jamey) Abrams of Andrews; grandchildren, Jamie (Nicki) Humphries of Lake City, Chris "Bubba" Humphries of Hemingway, Tracy (Matthew) Langley of Lake City, Matthew (Gabby) Nicholson of Lake City, Riley Prosser and Brianna Prosser, both of Florence, Allison Abrams and James Abrams, both of Andrews; three great grandchildren, Karsyn Humphries, Sage Humphries and Lacey Grace Langley, all of Lake City; siblings, Wendell (Shasta) Powers of Murrells Inlet, Tyrecia Johnson, Sally (Billy) Owens, Jenny (Grady) Richardson, and Jinks (Angie) Powers, all of Hemingway; numerous nieces and nephews and a special fur baby, "Buddy".
Mrs. Humphries was preceded in death by a sister, Faye Martin and her step-father, Herman Powers, Sr.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Monday, April 16, 2018, at Prospect Independent Methodist Church, Johnsonville. Burial, directed by Carolina Funeral Home, will follow at Powell Cemetery, Prospect.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM, Sunday, April 15, 2018, at Carolina Funeral Home, Scranton. The family will also receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 PM, Monday, April 16, 2018, at Prospect Independent Methodist Church, and other times at the home, 431 North Half Moon Road, Lake City.
