Reverend J. Timothy Howell, 72, husband of Becky McCants Howell, passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at McLeod Regional Medical Center, after an illness.
Funeral service will be 7:00 P.M., Friday, October 12, 2018, at Gospel Temple Worship Center, 3987 West Palmetto Street, Florence, SC. Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M., Friday, October 12, 2018, at the church prior to services.
Reverend Howell was born March 1, 1946, in Conway, a son of the late Moses Furman Howell and Bessie Inman Howell. Tim's mother died when he was only two years old, and later his dad married Dorson Rowe Howell, who continued to nurture and love Tim as her own son throughout her life. He was a graduate of Conway High School, Holmes Bible College, Francis Marion University, and received his Doctorate of Divinity from Southwestern College of Christian Ministries. Reverend Howell served as Senior Pastor at Gospel Temple Worship Center and was a member and former Treasurer of the SCIPHC. He formerly pastored Johns Island PH Church, Coward PH Church, The Bible Temple Church and Christian Assembly Church.
Surviving besides his wife, Becky McCants Howell of Florence; are, daughters, Melanie Gibson and Rebecca (Thomas) Rotan, both of Florence, and Stephanie (Jeff) Daniels of Hattiesburg, MS; grandchildren, Morgan (Wes) Atkinson, Bryce Gibson, Connor Gibson, MacKenzie Daniels, Ashlyn Daniels, Addison Rotan, Jude Rotan; and great-grandchildren, Nora Atkinson and Greer Atkinson; brothers, L.D. (Jeannette) Howell, Bobby (Vera) Howell, Reverend Paul (Mary) Howell, and Reverend Jerry (Martha) Howell.
Reverend Howell was preceded in death by brothers, John Moses Howell, Thomas Furman Howell and Elwood Howell; and sisters, Ruby Lee Howell Dorman and Eulee Howell Lovell.
