Rev. Mrs. Stella B. Moore, “Miss Stella”, 88, of Lake City, wife of the late Rev. Joseph E. Moore, passed away Friday, November 15, 2024, at McLeod Hospice House, Florence.
Miss Stella was born on June 28, 1936, in Walterboro, daughter of the late Dolphus B. Boodle and Eva Bell Crosby Boodle. She graduated from Walterboro High School and continued her education at The University of South Carolina and Florence-Darlington Technical College. She was a retired licensed and ordained minister with South Carolina International Pentecostal Holiness Conference. Miss Stella was a dedicated servant of God spending over four decades ministering alongside her husband. Their 65-year marriage was a testament to their unwavering faith and commitment to their shared calling. With a heart for young people, Miss Stella actively engaged with the next generation, imparting wisdom and nurturing their spiritual growth. After she became homebound, the youth from Floyd’s Chapel would frequently visit with her. She grew a special bond with them, taught them the Word of God, prayed with them and then they would sing together. Her musical talents enriched the lives of many. She skillfully played the piano and shared her knowledge of harmony with church choirs. Miss Stella’s life was a testament to love, service, and unwavering faith in God, deeply rooted in a life of prayer.
Surviving are her children, Linda Jo (Donnie) Wright of St. George and Sandra M. (Franklin) Bennett of Scranton; grandchildren, Kristi (Kenny) Hicks, Stella “Star” (Jack) Griffin and Jennifer (Dane) Pence; step granddaughter, Evalyn Bennett; great grandchildren, Jacob Hicks, Jessica Hicks, Jaci Griffin, Dominic (Jana) Griffin, Jackson Griffin, Perry Griffin and Madalyn Diehl; siblings, Dolphus Jim Boodle, Ruby Doris Benton, Alice Marie Herndon and Shirley Ann Rentz.
