Reverend Douglas Lee Amos, 88, husband of the late Frances Norton Amos, went to his heavenly home Sunday, August 13, 2023.
Reverend Amos was born on December 30, 1934, in North Carolina, son of the late Robert A. Amos and Pearl Dodson Amos. Reverend Amos was an Ordained Minister with the International Pentecostal Holiness Church, having served in the following capacities, Conference Treasurer, Assistant Superintendent and Superintendent. He pastored for many years at Emmanuel Pentecostal Holiness Church, Northwood Pentecostal Holiness Church, St. John Pentecostal Holiness Church, and Hannah’s Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church. He volunteered with Lighthouse Ministries and was a former board member for the Turbeville Children’s Home. Reverend Amos, affectionately known as “Pa”, will be remembered for his servants heart and generosity. He always put others ahead of himself and loved his family immensely.
Surviving are his sons, Reverend Gregory (Tamara) Amos of Florence and Robbie (Evelyn) Amos of Scranton; grandchildren, Seth Amos of Brooklyn, NY, Courtney (Will) Handley of Richmond, VA, Whitney Amos of Cades, McKenzie Amos of Florence and Ruby Kate Amos of Scranton; great grandchildren, Emma Grace Amos, Rowan Handley, Griffin Handley, and Archer Handley; sister, Merline Watkins of Stoneville, NC.
Reverend Amos was preceded in death by his siblings, Junior Amos, Lewis Amos, Russell Amos, Polly Hilton and Vivian Craddock.
A special “Thank You” to Vonnette, Cathy, Cindy, Jeanette and McLeod Hospice for their love and care provided to our father during his illness.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM, Thursday, August 17, 2023, at Barrineau Pentecostal Holiness Church, Lake City. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Church.
Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, August 18, 2023, at the Richmond County Memorial Park Cemetery, 1717 East Broad Avenue, Rockingham, NC.
