Roger Allen Coker, 83, passed away Friday, April 17, 2026, at McLeod Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
Born June 11, 1942, in Hebron, SC, Roger was the son of the late Robert Earl and Lillian Thomas Coker. He was a retired salesman in the chemical/fertilizer business. Roger loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ first and foremost. He loved his family and left a legacy of being a Christian example and carried a strong prayer life. Roger enjoyed sports, hunting, fishing, and gardening. He made sure all family and friends had an ample supply of vegetables. Roger also loved coaching in his earlier years, leading the Lower Florence County Pony League team to a baseball state championship in 1977. It was always about the players and being a positive influence in their lives.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 63 years, Elizabeth Matthews Coker, of the home; sons, Allen Coker (Colea) and Robin Coker (Dena), both of Scranton; grandsons, Judson Coker (Carmen) of Lake City, Chance Coker (Heather) of Lugoff, Peyton Coker of Scranton; granddaughter, Sidney Coker of Turbeville; great grandchildren Tate Coker, Tyson Coker, Cruz Coker, Collins Coker, River Coker; sister-in-law, Lena Belle Coker; nieces, Fran Coker Newell and her son, Conner, all of Hemingway, Karen Osborne of Green Mountain, NC; step-grandchildren, Robert Gray, his son, Roman, Chyna Gray, and her children Ansleigh, Carter, and Cobi.
Mr. Coker was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Coker and sister, Julie Hayes.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM, Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at Carolina Funeral Home, with funeral services to follow at 11:00 AM in the chapel. Burial will be private.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. David Moon and his staff, McLeod Emergency Room and McLeod Coronary Care Unit physicians and staff for their care and compassion.
