Ronald L. "Ron" McBride, 67, husband of Sue Hughes McBride, died Wednesday, January 13, 2021, in Statesville, NC.
Ron was born on June 5, 1953 in Salisbury, NC, a son of Ollie Mills McBride and the late Robert Lee "Mac" McBride. He was a graduate of Boyden High School in Salisbury, NC, where he excelled in baseball, wrestling, football and track. He attended Clemson University. Ron was plant manager of Synergy Dyeing & Finishing of Statesville, NC. He also had served as corporate technical manager of the following companies, Talon of Lake City, Blumenthal Mills of Marion, Macra Lace of Oxford NC, BMI of Burlington, NC and AEC of Ashboro NC, El Salvador and Honduras. Mr. McBride was the founder and owner of Avalon School of Massage where he was head instructor. He was also an instructor at Dove Starr Institute of Massage. Ron was the founder of the South Carolina Wado-Ryu Karate Dojo in Lake City. He was a member of the Eastern Wado-Ryu Federation and was 6th Dan. He was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Sue H. McBride of Coward; mother, Ollie M. McBride of N. Charleston; son, Damon McBride of N. Charleston; daughter, April (Alan) McBride of Turbeville; step-daughters, Cindy Jordan Merdas and Janet Jordan, both of Myrtle Beach; grandchildren, Sierra McBride, Corey (Taylor) Jordan, Matthew Jordan and Braylen Lee Jordan; brother, Tim (Joy) McBride of Summerville and Wayne McBride of N. Charleston; special nieces, Danielle Lockey and Rachel McBride; Best Buddy fur babies, Mikey, Pooh and Spanky; and many extended family members.
Mr. McBride was preceded in death by grandson, Jared Lee Jordan; stepson, Lee Jordan; fur baby, Daisey Mae McBride.
Funeral Service will be 3:00 PM, Sunday, January 17, 2021, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel, Scranton, with burial to follow at Bible Temple Cemetery, Coward.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
