Mrs. Sara M. Smith, 87, wife of the late Herschel Smith, passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at her residence.
Mrs. Smith was born on April 21, 1937, in Lake City, daughter of the late Mayo H. Morris and Bernice Weaver Morris. She was a member of Matthews Tabernacle Pentecostal Holiness Church. Mrs. Smith worked as a seamstress for Wentworth, did alterations for Superior Cleaners and Kelly’s Cleaners and was the owner and operator of “Cut & Sew Alternations”.
Surviving are her children, Calvin (Melody) Smith, Sr. Rod (Lisa) Smith, Patty (Mike) Barfield, Teri McKenzie, Marty (Stacey Pearce) Younce; grandchildren, Jason (Jennifer) Smith, Michele (Eric) Falcon, Brittney (Dusty) Cooke, Dusty (Ashley) Smith, Caleb Barfield, Taylor (Cade) Jordan, Troy Younce and Brayden Younce; 14 great grandchildren; sisters, Miriam Sims and Shirley (John) Perdue.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her grandchildren, Jennifer Bishop, Calvin Thomas “Cody” Smith, Jr., and Hunter S. Smith; brother, Oland Morris; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Willie B. and Annie Cantey Smith; brother-in-law, John Henry Sims.
The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to Amedisys Home Health, Amedisys Hospice Care, all the family members and friends for all the help, love and support during mama’s sickness, and for all the prayers, texts, calls and visits. Mama loved each and every one dearly.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Friday, September 27, 2024, at Matthews Tabernacle Pentecostal Holiness Church, with burial to follow at Baldwin-Matthews Cemetery, Lake City.
The family will receive friends 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Friday, September 27, 2024, at Matthews Tabernacle Pentecostal Holiness Church.
