Scovia P. Hanna, 95, wife of the late Kenneth L. "Snap" Hanna, died Thursday, August 29, 2019, at her residence, after an illness.
Mrs. Hanna was born on July 6, 1924 in Hannah, daughter of the late Shelly Samson Powell and Tenzil Elwood Powell. She was a longtime member of Union Baptist Church and enjoyed reading and studying her Bible. Mrs. Hanna was a homemaker and caregiver and loved spending time with her family.
Surviving are her children, Mary (Billy) Carraway of Coward, Lynda H. (David) Humphries of Lake City, Kent (Karen) Hanna of Coward, Scott Hanna of Hannah and Temple H. (David) Nickell of Lake City and a granddaughter, Michelle (Robby) Stone of Pamplico, who she raised as a daughter. She is also survived by eleven other grandchildren, many great and great-great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Hanna was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Dean Hanna; granddaughters, Jennifer Kay Braswell and Eva Elizabeth Humphries; two infant brothers, Aubrey and David Powell; brother, Zollie E. Powell; and a sister, Lila Mae P. Powell.
Funeral services will be 4:00 PM, Monday, September 2, 2019, at Union Baptist Church. Private burial will follow at Shelly Powell Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 PM, Monday, September 2, 2019, at the church.
