Snow Ray Donmoyer, 74, passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2026, with family by his side at McLeod Hospice House in Florence.
Born on May 14, 1951, in North Charleston, South Carolina, Snow was the son of the late Donald David Donmoyer and Vernette Lawrimore Donmoyer. He lived a life shaped by faith, curiosity, compassion, and a deep reverence for both people and the natural world.
Snow felt a strong calling to ministry and service and spent many years caring for the spiritual and emotional needs of others. A Presbyterian minister, he pastored numerous churches throughout the Pee Dee region, where he was known for thoughtful sermons, gentle guidance, and genuine love for his congregations. He also worked for many years as a psychologist, serving the community with empathy and wisdom, guided by his belief that caring for the soul and caring for the mind go hand in hand.
He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of South Carolina, a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a master’s degree in psychology from Francis Marion University. At his core, Snow was an intellectual, eager to learn, reflect, and remain open to new knowledge. He believed deeply in the pursuit of peace, both within oneself and in the world at large.
Beyond his professional life, Snow found joy and solace in the arts and the outdoors. He expressed his creativity through photography, painting, and gardening. He treasured time spent in nature, whether along the swamps of the Great Pee Dee at the family farm, kayaking blackwater rivers, or sitting on the back porch watching birds. He saw the beauty of God’s creation everywhere and found particular peace in the natural world.
Snow was a devoted father who shared a deep bond with his daughter, marked by time spent together outdoors and introspective conversations. Whether in person or from afar, Snow was a steady and trusted sounding board, offering humble guidance and deep care.
Above all, he will be remembered for his thoughtful and active mind, compassionate heart, and lifelong commitment to understanding and serving others.
Surviving are his wife, Sylvia D. Donmoyer of Lake City, daughter, Erin Donmoyer of Hemingway; his brother, David (Letizia) Donmoyer of Hemingway; his nephew, Juan “JD” Donmoyer of Hemingway.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Carolina Funeral Home in Scranton.
A family-led memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Pee Dee Baptist Church, 12606 Old Pee Dee Road, Hemingway, SC 29554.
