Mr. Steve Allen Filyaw, 61, husband of Sheri Bryant Filyaw, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his family.
Steve was born on October 15, 1963, in Williamsburg County, son of Grethel Mims Filyaw and the late Wilbur Filyaw. He loved the outdoors and found joy in the simple things; hunting, fishing, and spending time in nature. Steve was a NASCAR fan, with his favorite driver being Kyle Larson #5. He had a passion for working in the yard and took pride in his garden, especially his tomatoes and picking beans. Steve was a skilled handyman and was a carpenter for over 35 years. He loved and was dedicated to his family and his precious granddaughter was the apple of his eye.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 35 years, Sheri Bryant Filyaw of Cades, are his son, Cody (Hunter) Filyaw of Pamplico; granddaughter, Greysen Filyaw of Pamplico; his mother, Grethel Filyaw of Cades; sister, Brenda (Kent) Miles of Cades; sister-in-law, Cindy Filyaw of Myrtle Beach; nephew, Myles (Emily) Filyaw of Barrineau; niece, Grace (Steven) Dryden of Coward.
Steve was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Filyaw and mother-in-law, Willarea Powers.
Memorial service will be 3:00 PM, Sunday, June 22, 2025, at Carolina Funeral Home, Scranton.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.
