Mrs. Corliss Sue Creel, 88, of Pamplico, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at Honorage Nursing Center, Florence.
Mrs. Creel was born on April 2, 1936, in Beckley, WV, daughter of the late Henry Stewart “H.S.” Smith and Julia Brook Clyburn Smith. She was a woman of faith, a devoted member of Beulah Free Will Baptist Church, and a proud graduate of Trap Hill High School in Glen Daniel, West Virginia. More than anything, she was the heart of her family—a loving Wife, Mother, Granny Sue, "CC" and Grandma. Her home was a place of warmth, love, and laughter, where the simple joys of life—gardening, dancing, cooking and caring for those she loved—became cherished traditions. With hands that nurtured both flowers and family, and a spirit that found joy in every step, she left behind a legacy of love that will forever bloom in the hearts of those who knew her.
Surviving are her children, Wade (Reené) Creel of Pamplico and Deborah (Maxie) Walters of Florence; grandchildren, Shane (Samantha) Phillips of Burlington, NC, Adriane (Lee) Gainey of Murrells Inlet, Amber Tyron of Lexington, Abby (Michael) Morris of Florence, Austin (Jessica) Creel and Bailee Creel, both of Pamplico; siblings, Coyzetta Smith Bazen of Pamplico, Sonny Joe Smith of Vermilian, OH and Regina Smith Duncan of Glen Daniel, WV; brother-in-law, David Ray Creel of Pamplico; sister-in-law, Cheryl Creel (Bill) Trayner of Pamplico; numerous great grandchildren; great great grandchildren and extended family members.
Mrs. Creel was preceded in death by her husbands, Hampton Wilson Johnson, Don Creel and Herman Hendricks; son, Hamp Johnson; siblings, Vernon Smith, Carol Spurgeon, Ruby Griffith, Paul Scott Smith and Amous Lee Smith.
We extend our deepest gratitude to Pee Dee Gardens Assisted Living and Memory Care, Agape Hospice, as well as Honorage Nursing Center, for the love, compassion, and dedication shown to our mom during this time. Your kindness and care provided comfort not only to her but also to our family, knowing she was surrounded by warmth and support.
