Obituary
Ms. Sylvia Tonn Godwin, 69, of Scranton, passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at MUSC Health Florence Medical Center.
Ms. Godwin was born on February 14, 1954, in Florence County, daughter of the late Linder Tonn Godwin and Nellie McDaniel Godwin. She was a graduate of Lake City High School and Winthrop University. Ms. Sylvia was a retired public school teacher, who taught at The Carolina Academy, Williamsburg Academy and Lamar High School. She was a member of Lake City United Methodist Church and an active member in Women’s Ministries.
Surviving are her twin daughters, Katie Belflower and Jessica Belflower, both of Scranton; many first cousins and extended family members.
Ms. Sylvia was preceded in death by her brother, Dexter Levon Godwin.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Sunday, March 12, 2023, at Lake City United Methodist Church, with private burial to follow at Lake City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Church.
