Sylvia Floyd Yates

Mrs. Sylvia Floyd Yates, 79, wife of Donald D. Yates, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at her home in Lake City, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on August 8, 1946, in Williamsburg County, Sylvia was the daughter of the late Samuel Floyd and Mae Belle Anderson Floyd. She was a proud graduate of Hebron High School and a faithful, longtime member of Terrell’s Church of God of Prophecy. She dedicated many years of hard work to the sewing manufacturing industry before retiring as a cutter.

Sylvia was a woman who found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved crocheting and creating beautiful crafts, traveling to new places, and baking for those she loved. More than anything, she treasured time spent with her family, who were the center of her world. She will be remembered for her kind heart, gentle spirit, and the love she so freely gave to others.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Donald D. Yates; her daughters, Karen Yates and Sandi (Billy) Arnold; her son, Randy Yates; grandchildren, Justin (Jamie) Gaymon, Taylor (Matt) Bowen, Hunter (Gage) Yates, Donald “Trey” Yates III,  John "Jace" Springs, Jr. , and Zac (Landrey) Arnold;  great-grandchildren, Emmitt, Jaxton, and Lillian;  sister, Judy (Steve) Ard.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Donald D. “Scooter” Yates, and her sister, Maria Floyd Gause.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00 PM on Friday, April 3, 2026, at Terrell’s Church of God of Prophecy, with funeral services to follow at 4:00 PM in the sanctuary. Burial will follow at Floyd Chapel Cemetery.
