Mrs. Tammie Lynch Matthews, 63, wife of Kent Matthews, passed away Thursday, August 28, 2025, at McLeod Regional Medical Center of Pee Dee.
Mrs. Matthews was born on December 28, 1961, in Florence County, daughter of the late Robert “Sammy” Lynch and Carolyn Smith Lynch. Mrs. Matthews, lovingly known as “MaMa,” was a devoted grandmother whose caring heart touched everyone around her. She was family-oriented, always putting the needs of others before her own, and led by example with her selflessness and compassion. She was strong in spirit, showing tough love when needed, yet always nurturing and supportive. She enjoyed spending time at the lake and in the mountains, she found peace working in her yard and was known for her generosity. A faithful member of Family Worship Assembly, Mrs. Matthews lived a life of love, service, and devotion that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Surviving are her husband of 30 years, Kent Matthews of Manning; children, Danyell Lynch of Coward, Andrew (Eliza) Miles of Turbeville, Charlotte (Derrick) Grier of Johnsonville, Kacy (Brock) Byrd, Kelli (Glenn) Joyner and Kent (Ashley) Matthews, all of St. George; 17 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sisters, Tina Floyd of New Zion and Karen (Ricky) Bruton of Effingham; along with a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Matthews was preceded in death by her brother, Ricky L. Lynch; sister-in-law, Freda Lynch; brother-in-law, David Floyd.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Monday, September 1, 2025, at Carolina Funeral Home, and at other times at the home of Charlotte Grier.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Monday, September 1, 2025, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow at Matthews Cemetery, Coward.
