Mr. Thomas Earl Bazen, 77, of Scranton, husband of Sharon Poston Bazen, passed away Thursday, August 15, 2024, at McLeod Regional Medical Center of the Pee Dee.
Mr. Bazen was born on June 12, 1947, in Florence County, son of the late G. W. Bazen and Virginia Driggers Bazen Taylor. He was a Veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Bazen was a member of Gilead Free Will Baptist Church where he currently served as the adult Sunday school class teacher, and formerly served as a trustee. Mr. Bazen retired from FTC (Farmers Telephone) after 45 years of dedicated service as a cable splicer. He was referred to by his coworkers as “Uncle Earl”. Mr. Bazen was a former Gideon and enjoyed going on mission trips to Central America. Farming and fishing was in his blood. He always felt if he could get on a John Deere or ride down the river, one more time – all would be well.
Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Sharon Poston Bazen of Scranton; son, Phillip Bazen of Hannah; brother, Wilson (Emily) Bazen of Laurens; sister, Karen Edens (Martin McDaniel) of Pamplico; brother-in-law, Leonard Poston of Scranton; nephews, Douglas (Keli) Poston, Jacob (Leah) Poston, Brock Connell, Ben (Denine) Mitchell, Alex (Kimberly) Dove, Dalten King, William Mitchell, Alex Dove Jr, Nickalie Dove and Easton Mitchell; nieces, Kimberly Nicole Dove, Gina Feagin, Kaitlyn Jacobs, Zoey Dove, Sophia Poston and Marley Poston; dear friends, Darlene Frye, Ricky Frye and Helen Moore; other extended family and friends; fur baby, Gracie.
The family would like to thank the staff of Lake City Fresenius Dialysis and Dr. Albert Mims for their love and care.
Mr. Bazen was preceded in death by his step-father, Marvin Taylor and his sister, Connie Bazen Poston.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, Sunday, August 18, 2024, at Gilead Free Will Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be 4:00 PM, Sunday, August 18, 2024, at Gilead Free Will Baptist Church, with burial to follow at Scranton Methodist Church Cemetery.
