Mr. Tommy M. Coker, 97, of Chapin, husband of Shirley S. Coker, passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at Lexington Medical Center.
Mr. Coker was born on March 3, 1928, in Cades, son of the late William McKinley Coker and Myrtie McCutcheon Coker. Mr. Coker was a devoted member of Lake City United Methodist Church, where he faithfully served as Superintendent of Building and Grounds. He honorably served in the United States Air Force and later worked as a postal carrier for 30 years. He also served many years as a funeral assistant with Brockington Funeral Home and later with Carolina Funeral Home. Mr. Coker was a dedicated volunteer fireman and served on the Board of Commissioners for the South Lynches Fire Department. In his spare time, he enjoyed farming and spending time outdoors.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Shirley, are his daughter, Deborah C. Larson; step daughter, Cynthia (Paul) Wolters and step-son, Christopher (Pam) Clark; 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; other extended family members.
Mr. Coker was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris Coker; infant son, Kenneth Coker; sister, Everette Moore; brothers, Harry Coker and Raymond Coker; son-in-law, Dirk Larson.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM, Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Carolina Funeral Home, with funeral services to follow at 2:00 PM in the chapel.
Burial will be private.
