Tony R. Owens

Mr. Tony R. Owens, 51, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at MUSC Health Florence Medical Center.

Mr. Owens was born on August 29, 1973, in Florence County, son of Betty Owens Greer and the late Randy D. Owens. A kind-hearted and compassionate man, Mr. Owens had a generous spirit and rarely said “no” to anyone in need. His warmth and willingness to help others left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. He was an avid outdoorsman who found joy in hunting, fishing, and spending time in the mountains or at Packs Landing. He deeply cherished his family and embraced his role as “PaPa” with pride and love. Above all, he especially loved Dawn, who held a very special place in his heart. He will be remembered for his big heart, his love of nature, and the joy he brought to those around him.  He also had a sweet tooth and a playful side—he always carried hard candy in his pocket.

Surviving are his spouse, Dawn Ackerman Owens; sons, Justin (Bethany) Owens of Effingham and Tyler (Catherine) Exum of Darlington; daughter, Angel (Drew) Barfield of Bennettsville; grandchildren, Haidyn Owens, Emersyn Owens, Baylee-Anne Exum, and a granddaughter on the way; brother, Levon (Catherine) Owens; a number of nieces and nephews; many special friends.

Mr. Owens was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Owens.

The family will receive friends from  11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Friday, July 18, 2025, at Carolina Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 12:00 PM, Friday, July 18, 2025, Carolina Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow at Florence Memorial Gardens.
