Obituary

Mr. Troy Jay Johnson, 47, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2024, in North Augusta, due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

Troy was born on May 9, 1977, in Florence County, son of Mary Ellen Turner Johnson and the late James Kenneth Johnson. He was a 1996 graduate of Hannah-Pamplico High School and was a Veteran of the United States Army. Troy was known for his infectious smile and his unwavering love for his family and friends. He had a deep passion for biking and his adventurous spirit led him to travel the world.  

Surviving are his mother, Mary Ellen Turner Johnson of Pamplico; daughters, Jaylin Johnson of Pamplico, Aleija Bostick of Charlotte, NC and Jocelyn (Shamar) Thomas of Louisville, KY; son, John Murtha of Latta; grandsons, River Johnson of Pamplico, Kai Radionov of Charlotte, NC and John “Tripp” Murtha III of Latta; sister, Theresa Ward of Pamplico; brothers, James “Jim” Johnson, Jr of Lexington, Steve (Staccia) Johnson of Casagrande, AZ and Jeffrey “Jeff” (Mary Lou) Johnson of Pamplico; significant other, Ivy Gray of Statesville, NC; added daughter, Ava Gray of Statesville, NC.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Monday, October 28, 2024, at The Well, Pamplico.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Monday, October 28, 2024, at The Well, with burial to follow at Florence Memorial Gardens, with Military Honors.
